This method allowed him to observe the behavior of protons as well as other subatomic particles.

In 1932, Ernest Rutherford, who had previously worked with J.J. Thomson, identified proton as the positively charged particle he observed in his experiments. He called it “proton” because it was the first positive charge found in nature.
